Following on from the epic adventure of Shadowhall Academy, Ghost Story Society follows Lillian and her room-mates as they delve deeper into the dark history of their school. Bumps in the night are nothing for this fearless girl gang!

When Lillian hears about a mysterious book, that lies hidden somewhere in the school, she cannot resist going on the hunt for it. This particular book, a witch's spell book, brings the deepest secrets of those who write in it to life. Are you afraid of the dark? Do you flinch when a floorboard creaks? Beware what you write.

Phil Hickes captivates his readers again with a tense story where something lerks round every corner. The girls have matured a little since their last adventure, finding their voices and building their roles within the friend group. The way that girls just seem to work together but then have their own stories is superb.

Another thing I love about the way that Hickes writes is his ability to paint such vivid pictures in your mind with his gritty description of the gloom and chill of living in an old manor house, with pipes tapping in the night and the chilling breeze that snakes its way through gaps in the windows. It's like you're in the classrooms and dorms yourself.

I very much look forward to following Lillian and friends on their next adventure at Shadow all Manor.
