I loved this story from the first chapter. Takako has just broken up with her bf of three years after she found out that he was engaged to someone else!! Her life begins to fall apart when she quits her job becuase she cannot face seeing her bf at work. Just when she was at her lowest, a hero comea long to pick her up, her Uncle Satoru.
Moving her life to a small bookshop in the corner of Jimbocho, Tokyo- Takako begins to rebuild her life, one book at a time. She rediscovers the small things in life that make the big moments better and learns not to judge a book by its cover.
Translated from the original story by Satoshi Yagisawa by Eric Ozawa, Days at the Morisaki Bookshop captures the ideals and culture of Japan: how family are important and the way the world sends you what you need the most. I really enjoyed the way that the story was split into sections: Before the bookshop, at the bookshop and after the bookshop. You get an excellent snpashot of how Takako grows as she rebuilds her life to something that she is proud to have. Along the way, Takako helps her uncle to rediscover his life outside the bookshop and guides him to refind the love in his life after his wife left him.
Overall, Days at the Morisaki Bookshop is a cosy tale of finding yourself after tragedy and how with the right support, life can become something worth living for.
