How have I not read this sooner?! When I saw this amazing book as the selected text for our new topic at work, I had to read it.
When George’s mean grandma is getting too much to take, George decides to create a medicine to make grandma a nicer person. Throwing in whatever he can find around the house, he boils and stirs his way into some mischief. When grandma tastes the medicine things go wrong when the unforeseen side effects cause grandma to do some weird things.
I really enjoyed reading this story with the children at work. We looked at how George could have used a recipe to keep track of what he was putting in so it would have been easier to make again when his father wanted more.
Like most of Roald Dahl’s books, George’s Marvellous Medicine is full of laughs and crazy characters that you love to see get into trouble. It is not a long book but is crammed with plenty of twists and turns so there is plenty of plot to sink your teeth into.
After reading, I really wanted to read some more Roald Dahl books as they all seem to be fantastic stories.
