I am a huge fan of Studio Ghibli so when I found Kiki’s Delivery Service on the shelves at Waterstones, I had to have it.

From the start, the warmth of the story settles in. Kiki is coming of age and must venture out on her own into the world. She must find a town or village that is need of a witch and spend the year making the world better.

When Kiki lands in a seaside town, she realises that life isn’t going to be straight forward. The people are weary of her and she doesn’t know what she can do to help. Soon, she finds that the people need someone to deliver their precious parcels.

As her reputation grows, not only does Kiki win the hearts of the townspeople but she also learns her own lessons about love and life. she makes friends and begins to see how she is changing the world.

Kiki’s Delivery Service is such a heartwarming coming of age story that transports you across the hills, mountains and oceans to far away lands to watch a young witch grow into her power and life.
