VR has taken the world by storm. Millions across the globe put on their headsets and are transported into world of their wildest dreams.
When 5 strangers find themselves in The Game, a rumoured secret game hosted on the dark web of the VR world, they must uncover the truth before it’s too late. Mystery, intrigue and clues lead to more than just the prize.
When one of them dies in The Game, the players think nothing of it but when it is revealed that their actions have repercussions in the real world, it shakes the remaining players to their core. Is everyone who they say they are? Is the creator of The Game after more than just players and does the mysterious NPC, Angel, really have the team’s best interest at heart?
On face value, Let’s Play Murder is your typical who-dunnit. The players are presented with a mystery that needs to be solved and NPC are shattered across the whole house the 5 find themselves in. Each armed with a unique item that will help them along on their quest, the team face the trials both digital and human. It get really interesting when one of the players dies, not just in The Game but in real life. The stakes have been raised and someone is out for blood.
The main character, Veronica, was reluctant to put the VR headset back on after years of being offline but her brother who is dangerously sick insists to pass the time while in hospital. When Veronica enters the VR world, she is not in the Hide and Seek game she was meant to be in, she is in The Game. As she finds the others and the mystery unravels, Veronica begins to suspect that her past is not going to stay buried and her sister, who tragically died while playing a VR game, is out for revenge. Will she survive the sibling vendetta or will she be next to die?
Let’s Play Murder has all the hallmarks of a thrilling murder mystery but with the added twist of competition. It lives up to the hype of being the perfect mix between Agatha Christie and Squid Games. It is a total page turner and will have you hooked from the first chapter.
